Chashma - Ayub Mausoleum

Chashma - Ayub Mosoleum is a cherished place connected to the prophet Ayubalayhisalam. The mausoleum is located in the center of the city near the exit of Ismail Somani park.
According to the legends, there was a severe drought and when the Prophet Ayub was passing through the Bukhara lands the local people asked him for water. The prophet struck his staff on the ground and a well “chashma” had appeared. Up to this day the water remains clean and pure and gives cure to those who drink from it.
Ever since then the holy building is in the center of Bukhara, it includes a mausoleum and a sacred spring. The structure is a multi-chamber mausoleum which takes the form of an oblong prism, crowned with domes all over the rooms with different shapes and sizes.

The plate with the inscription from the carved terracotta next the well says the mausoleum was built in 1379-1380 under Amir Temurs orders.
