After the widespreading of the Islam religion, prayers in Bukhara were held in Registan Square. However, in the IX century during the reign of the Samanids the Registan square had become crowded thus a special place for mass prayers “Namozgoh” was built in the south of Bukhara.
Namaz literaly meaning prayer, therefore Namazgoh is a place where the prayer can be performed. The mosque was used for worship services of the Ramadan Eid and the Kurban Eid holidays.
Nowadays, it used more as a monument of antiquity rather than a mosque.
