TREKKING TO PULATKHAN MOUNTAIN PLATEAU

    End of MAY is the season of tulips blooming on the plateau Pulatkhan!

   Itinerary: Tashkent – Ugam-Chatkal national park – Tashkent 

Region: Ugam-Chatkal national park, Western Tien-Shan mountains, Uzbekistan
Tour duration: 6 days/5 nights

Highlights: Mysterious mountain plateau Pulatkhan located inside the mountain massive of Ugam-Chatkal national park and borders the Chatkal biosphere reserve. The highest point is 2856 m. above the sea level. This is a place with an incredible aura, where you feel like on another planet. The plateau offers a fantastically beautiful view of the surrounding mountain ranges. It is called Pulatkhan because at 1872-1874 years Khan Pulat lived there together with his family and army. This historical place with many legends served them as a mountain fortress. In XX century on the plateau were found the treasures of coins and dishes. There are rocky steep walls about 1000 meters high goes down from all sides of the plateau. It is possible to ascent the plateau by path only, which is in one place wide enough to pass over just for one man. The name of this place is the "Gate of Pulatkhan". The plateau is rich by flora and fauna. There grows many medical herbs and are living mountain goats IBEX, endemic marmots, eagles and vultures. During the trekking our experienced guide will tell about the history, flora and fauna of the plateau.

  Tour program:

Day 1 Tashkent – Aksakata river
Transfer from Tashkent to Gidjal village Aksakata river (80 km, 2 h). Preparation for trekking. Trekking upstream Aksakata river through the confluence with Nurekota river to the garden of beekeeper. Camp #1 on the bank of Aksakota river.
Trekking start altitude - 990 m
Camp altitude - 1393 m
Trekking distance - 13,6 km

Day 2 Aksakata river 
Trekking upstream Aksakata river to the confluence with Tekeli river. Camp #2 on the bank of Aksakota river.
Camp altitude - 1935 m
Trekking distance - 14 km

Day 3 Aksakata river – Aksakata pass – upper reaches of Koraarchasay river
Trekking along the gorge of Aksakata river, then along the Karangur river (the right headwater tributary of Aksakata river) to the Aksakata pass and then through the Mt.Karangur to the headwater of Koraarcha river. Camp #3 near the headwater of Koraarcha river.
Camp altitude - 2275 m
Trekking distance - 7,6 km

Day 4 Upper reaches of Koraarchasay river – Pulatkhan plateau
A radial ascent through the Karangur peak to the Pulatkhan plateau. Overview of Western Tien-Shan mountain ranges. Panoramic view to Tereklisay and Akbulak gorges. Camp #4 on the plateau near the spring water.
Trekking highest altitude - 2851 m
Camp altitude - 2712 m
Trekking distance - 17 km

Day 5 Pulatkhan plateau - Uytosh – Nurekota river
Trekking from the plateau through the Karangur peak. Passing over through the Uytosh to Nurekota river. Camp #5 on the bank of Nurekota river.
Trekking highest altitude - 2856 m
Camp altitude - 1725 m
Trekking distance - 20 km

Day 6 Nurekota river – Aksakota river – Tashkent
Trekking downstream the Nurekota river to the confluence with Aksakata river and then downstream the Aksakata river to Gidjal village. Transfer to Tashkent (80km).
Trekking end altitude - 992 m
Trekking distance - 13 km

   Price per tourist:

   Recommended outfit:

4. thermo-underwear (spring/autumn season); 
5. slippers;

7. personal first aid-kit;

Weight restrictions:
*The weight carried in horses' bags are critical, therefore the trekkers have to keep the weight of personal clothing and other stuff to a maximum of 10 kg or lighter.
